This occasion is the first time that

I have personally discovered Mr. James asleep; although I have frequently noticed an excessive drowsinase in hia,

particularly towards the end of the day.

Mr. Grant has quite recently told

me that he found Mr. James asleep once while he was Aoting

Head Master. He spoke to Mr. James about it, but kept no

actual memo of the date; he did not report the incident at the time. The Inspector of English Schools, Mr. Ralphs

also tells me that when he was Aoting Head Master, during my absence in Europe, (1010-11), Mr. James was on one occasion

found asleep in his classroom.

Since my return to Queen's College

in Maroh laat, Mr. James has been reported to me, on two

separate occasions, once by Mr. Grant on the 20th. ultimo,

and again on the 8th. instant by Er. Tarmer, as having gone

to sleep in front of a class. On each occasion I called Kr.

James into my office and spoke to him on the subject. On the

second occasion Mr. James promised to see a doctor, and used

the phrase "sleeping sickness", as though he could not himself

sooount for his sleepiness. Shortly afterwards, I visited

Kr. Jamon in his room at the Hotel, and as he had nớt than

called in a medical man, I urged him to do so. I told ch later, that Dr. Paaras informed him that his livet, upon which

he had bad serious operation some years ago, was inadequate
